What to Expect:
- Day 1: Arrival and Sunset Hike
Your adventure begins at Goanikontes at 3 pm, where you’ll be shuttled to our beautifully set-up desert camp, located at the confluence of the Khan and Swakop Rivers. This unique spot lies in Namibia’s iconic Moon Landscape, a dramatic terrain shaped over millions of years by erosion. Its otherworldly appearance, with rolling hills and craters, provides a mesmerizing backdrop for our first optional hike (6-9 km).
As the sun dips below the horizon, enjoy a warm Namibian welcome with a traditional braai (BBQ) under the glittering desert sky. Whether you’re sharing laughs with friends or bonding with family, the calm atmosphere fosters connection and relaxation. Your fully equipped camp (tents, camping beds, mattresses, and pillows provided) will already be prepared by our support team, so you can unwind by the pool or sip your favorite drink in the serene desert air. - Day 2: Hiking the Khan River
Wake up with the gentle light of dawn and enjoy coffee and rusks before starting the day’s 16 km hike along the picturesque Khan River. This trail takes you through stunning rock formations, some shaped like natural sculptures over time, and offers unique opportunities to spot local wildlife and rare desert flora.
Breakfast is served at a shaded rock cave, adding to the magical experience. Hiking in this environment isn’t just a physical activity—it’s a chance to unplug from daily stresses, breathe deeply, and let nature restore your mental clarity. Bond with your group as you explore, sharing moments of awe at the raw beauty around you. For those preferring a shorter hike, our backup vehicle ensures everyone can participate at their own pace.
Return to camp for a freshly prepared lunch cooked over the fire. The afternoon is yours to relax—swim, birdwatch, chat with fellow hikers, or simply gaze at the landscape. As evening falls, enjoy a sundowner followed by another delicious braai. Spend the night marveling at Namibia’s unparalleled starry skies or basking in the soft moonlight, casting magical shadows over the Moon Landscape. - Day 3: Swakop River & Final Hike
Begin your final day with morning coffee and rusks as the sunrise paints the desert in vibrant hues. Today’s 15 km hike takes you along the Swakop River, offering a different perspective of Namibia’s natural beauty. The Swakop’s dry riverbeds, flanked by rugged cliffs, tell stories of ancient water flow and support unique ecosystems. Along the way, we pause for breakfast at another scenic rock cave, perfect for taking photos or simply soaking in the tranquility.
Hiking isn’t just about physical exercise; it’s a proven way to reduce stress, boost mental well-being, and strengthen relationships with family or friends who join you on this adventure. Walking together, sharing quiet moments, and celebrating small victories along the trail creates lasting memories and deep bonds.
By late morning, we arrive back at Goanikontes, refreshed, rejuvenated, and filled with a sense of accomplishment.
