Self-Drive itinerary(12 Days)
Day 1: Windhoek
Distance: 0 km (Starting Point)
Begin in Namibia’s capital. Collect your 4x4, explore city highlights, and prepare for the long northern journey.
Day 2: Outjo
Distance: 320 km North
Drive north to Outjo, a relaxed town and gateway to Etosha and Kaokoland.
Day 3–4: Etosha National Park
Distance: 120 km Northeast
Enter Namibia’s premier safari destination. Spot elephants, lions, rhinos, and giraffes at waterholes across the salt pan.
Day 5: Opuwo
Distance: 420 km Northwest
Head into Kaokoland’s capital, Opuwo, where Himba culture meets rugged landscapes.
Day 6–7: Van Zyl’s Pass
Distance: 330 km North
Tackle Namibia’s most extreme 4x4 route. Descend the rocky pass into Marienfluss Valley, surrounded by remote wilderness and dramatic scenery.
Disclaimer: Self-drive tourists using rental vehicles require special permission from their rental agency to navigate Van Zyl's Pass.
(By common agreement, the pass is only driven in one direction: east to west.)
Day 8: Marienfluss Valley
Distance: 40 km North
Explore one of Namibia’s most isolated valleys, with desert vistas, Himba settlements, and untouched landscapes.
Day 9: Epupa Falls
Distance: 280 km South
Drive to the Kunene River and marvel at Epupa Falls, where palm trees and cascades create a lush oasis.

Distance: 350 km South

Day 12: Windhoek
Distance: 350 km East (End Point)
